God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure video game with hack and slash mechanics that is coming out in 2022. Developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game will be a sequel to 2018's God of War entry. The game will continue the story of Kratos and his son Atreus, both facing now the so-called Ragnarok, which is the end of all things prophecised in Norse mythology.
Premise
Former Spartan and his son, Atreus, travel through the Nine Realms of Norse mythology seeking answers about the boy's future as Loki and how to prevent the Ragnarok. As the father and son continue their journey, the forces of Asgard are preparing for war. While searching for Týr - the giant Norse God of War previously believed to be dead - they will have to face several new enemies and threats.
Kratos and Atreus are also pursued by the endless wrath of Thor, the enraged God of Thunder, and Freya, their former friend, both seeking vengeance for the deaths of their children caused by Kratos. With the Dawn of Gods getting nearer, they both have to decide what is more important: their own safety or the fate of all the realms.
Gameplay
GoW Ragnarok is the newest game in the God of War series, said to release in 2022. With Kratos as the main character, the player will again have the opportunity to express their inner god of war. The player will have such iconic weapons as Blades of Chaos or Leviathan Axe at their disposal to decimate numerous creatures, monsters and gods of Norse mythology. The single-player adventure features Kratos and his son Atreus on their quest for answers about the 'Loki' prophecy and his role in Ragnarok.
